NEW EVENT – APRIL – 2023 – VETERAN & VINTAGE EXTRAVAGANZA!!

The Isle of Man Section of the VMCC is proposing to organise a stand alone brand new event

The Event will be open to owners of pre WWII machinery ( entries will be open to

ALL owners of eligible machinery,

not just VMCC members) with an emphasis on road runs suitable for belt drive

pioneer type machinery.

With the Pioneer Run staying with their new date in October 2023 it would seem to make

sense for our event to fill the early in the year void and run the event around Easter 2023.

Starting around 6th April 2023 & ending 12th April 2023. 7 nights.

We have a successful background of organising events on the Island but this will represent a

first for us in that we are really offering a “package holiday”. However, we really need you to tell

us what your package holiday should include.

The information we require will include:

1.Preferred length of visit – few days or a full week?

2.ACCOMODATION:

Glamping

Hotel – The Ramsey Park Hotel, Very Convenient for the activities – huge car park and opportunities for

evening/lunchtime gatherings plus gala dinner.

Individual/small number self catering cottage accomodation.

ENTERTAINMENT:

Evening – Speakers/ Film nights in 200 seater theatre in Douglas.

Gala Dinner.

Manx Heritage attractions – Steam Railway, Electric Railway, Museums (indoor and outdoor).

Our aim would be to include access to these attractions as part of your entry fee. With enough

interest it would be great to book the Steam railway exclusively for our use. Perhaps to include

an on board evening meal.

POTENTIAL ITINERARY:

Classes for all pre war machinery with a particular emphasis on terrain suitable for belt drive

machinery. Route and distance options.

Road runs will explore the northern plains( largely open, quiet roads with gently undulating

scenery).

Biking activities in addition to typical road runs:

Jurby Test day – full day of circuit activity with sessions geared to ALL abilities (mechanical and

personal!). Marquee with ample seating for signing on and general relaxation.

Assortment of refreshments.

Timed hill climb – open to road and non road legal machines. Utilising possibly the most

picturesque track in the entire UK – Druidale – with magnificent views across to Snaefell. Full

Road closure for our exclusive use. Can be run simply as an untimed blast and/or a regularity

time trial over two or more runs.

TT Courses – 1907/ Mountain/ Clypse circuits ( possibility of limited road closures along the

lines of our 2011 re enactment where we were able to operate rolling road closures but this will

all be subject to various Gov’/police approvals and will inevitably be influenced by the size of the

entry list and suitable timings).

Static displays on a meet and greet the public basis behind the TT Grandstand and Ramsey TC.

Breakdown service/collection plus access to tools and experienced help for major repair work.

Welcome pack including riding numbers, memento, maps, attractions, details of restaurants and

cafes.

HOPEFULLY OUR PROPOSED EVENT HAS PRICKED YOUR INTEREST AND WE WOULD

LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU INDICATING YOUR VIEWS/ PREFERENCES. PLEASE EMAIL OUR SECTION SECRETARY GARY CORLETT AT secretary@vmcciom.org
